The Cure put out an expansive rarities box set Join the Dots in 2001 which featured a smattering of covers including an innovative 1993 take on “Young Americans,” the title track from Bowie’s mid-’70s soul period classic. What made it most interesting was how the band seamlessly incorporated into the song the bass line to “The Wedding,” which led off the 1993 Bowie effort Black Tie White Noise.
