As news of Lemmy Kilmister’s death spread across social media this evening, someone here at Vanya HQ playfully suggested some sort of midnight candlelit vigil at Boston Common.
Turns out the city has one better — and far more appropriate: the DJs at the Model Cafe promise to play nothing but Motörhead songs all night tonight, raising a glass to the metal band’s iconic frontman who died earlier today at the age of 70.
Tonight, the Allston dive bar (at 7 North Beacon St. in Union Square) hosts its weekly Model Mondays night, where the DJs spin whatever they want after a screening of WWE’s Monday Night Raw. So with the sudden news of Lemmy’s passing, it’ll be all Motörhead, all night — until last call, which no doubt will be emotional.
“It’s the right thing to do,” Model DJ Christopher Harrell tells Vanyaland.
