3. Sleater-Kinney, “A New Wave” [Sub Pop]

Normally I’m one of the whiny bastards who insist that an ongoing onslaught of celebrity cameos in music videos is destroying the artform (I mean, great, guys, I’m really glad that McLovin’ from Superbad likes your shitty song enough to devote an hour or two of his time to mouth some lyrics or something, but come on) but this video illustrates how well a cameo can be done when it’s thought out. Featuring the young stars of Fox’s Bob’s Burgers jamming along with Carrie and Corrin and Janet in their bedroom, it’s hard not to enjoy their giddy reactions to a really solid cut off of No Cities to Love and even harder not to be reminded of when you danced along in your bedroom to songs just like this one. There’s beauty in the gimmick, and it really sings.
