2. Party Bois, “Being In U” [self-released]
By now we know the deal: a bunch of Boston dudes known for their work in rock, metal and indie bands get together to create an ‘80s nostalgia trip of funk, r&b, and freestyle. It had all the makings of an utter disaster, until… until holy shit these songs are fucking awesome. And none more lethal than the crystalline dance-pop of “Being In U,” a spin of lyrical brilliance by Johnny Northrup and the catchiest chorus since Shannon’s “Let The Music Play.”
