‘Head of Class: Evan Dando to be inducted into the Boston Music Awards Hall of Fame

Next month, a Lemonhead will shine.

The Boston Music Awards announced today that Evan Dando will be inducted into its Hall of Fame, and the Massachusetts indie rock musician will be inducted at the second night of the BMAs party at the Sinclair on Thursday, December 10. The first night, December 9 and also at the Harvard Square rock club, will feature 14 performances from a variety of 2015 nominees.

This is the first year the BMAs have expanded into two nights.

“The goal of this expansion is to devote the first night to fully celebrating this year’s nominees, while the second night breathes new life into the ‘Hall of Fame’ award by paying tribute to the 2015 inductee, Evan Dando of The Lemonheads,” the BMAs write in a press release. “Honoring the Boston legend with a partial tribute set are the 2015 nominees, These Wild Plains, in addition to other special guests. On the same night, and on the other end of the spectrum, the Boston Music Awards also look to the future, with the New Artist Of The Year Winners opening up the celebrations.”

Among the bands, artists and DJs performing at Night 1 are Dirty Bangs, Dutch Rebelle, Louie Bello, Nemes, Oh Malô, Party Bois, Radclyffe Hall, Ruby Rose Fox, the Soul-le-lu-jah DJs, Tigerman WOAH, Vundabar, Will Dailey, Worshipper, and DJ Frank White.

The December 9 party is open to Boston Music Award nominees via RSVP, and tickets are on sale to the general public for the December 10 Dando induction.
