Last year, the inaugural Boston En Masse festival unified various local music scene circles with four nights of music at Church in the Fenway, creating a weekend series that featured showcases on electronic pop, hip-hop, indie rock, and punk/noise/experimental sounds. This week, its organizer, Jason Trefts of Illegally Blind Presents, also the driving force behind the annual Fuzzstival and booking agent at the Middle East in Cambridge, began to detail the 2015 edition.
Yesterday he released the dates and locations — an all-ages show November 18 at the Middle East, an 18-plus show November 19 at Great Scott in Allston, and a 18-plus event November 20 at the Middle East — and revealed half of the lineup of performing bands and artists.
Included in the first batch of announced bands are Guerilla Toss, IAN, Mal Devisa, Abadabad, Radclyffe Hall, Skinny Bones, Harmoos, Ursula, Milk, Anjimile, and Peachpit.
Boston En Masse states that the goal is “to bring people together to celebrate local music,” and in 2015, there doesn’t seem to be last year’s genre groupings in play here, which should lead to a more varied cross-section of the music community attending the shows, and music fans possibly discovering something new. Check out a preview of the announced bands below; Trefts says the second half of the lineup will be unveiled next week.
