We’re now a bloody fookin’ fortnight until the release of the Libertines new and third studio album, their first in 11 years. While the reggae-tinged “Gunga Din” had held us over for summer, today we get a new cut off Anthems for Doomed Youth in the Fall-esque rock swirler “Glasgow Coma Scale Blues.”
Listen to the new single below via YouTube. It certainly has that classic Libs’ feel to it.
Meanwhile, the band announced a week-long event to celebrate the new record, dubbed Somewhere Over the Railings, which takes over the North London neighborhood of Camden. The series follows the Libertines’ August 30 headlining appearance at Reading Festival, and the first stop is Dublin Castle. Tickets to the entire week sold out in like five minutes.
Anthems for Doomed Youth is out September 4 via Virgin/EMI.
