Yesterday we previewed Night 1 of the ongoing Boston Fuzzstival, breaking up the three-day, 34-band extravaganza into a manageable bit of noise to help properly navigate the goings on at the Middle East Upstairs in Cambridge. This morning, as we’re all hung-fuzzed-over from the opening slate, we’ll break down the eight participants on tonight’s showcase. It all kicks off with a 7 p.m. post-shawarma set by Worcester DIY-pop heroes Secret Lover, whose self-titled debut LP, out September 1 via Indiana-based indie label Sister Cylinder, has been a permanent fixture of the tireless Vanya HQ turntable all week.
Later sets by Boom Said Thunder, The Barbazons, The New Highway Hymnal, and The Monsieurs all but ensure shit’s about to get weird tonight in Central Square. It’s all a proper warm-up for tomorrow’s all-day Fuzz-a-thon.
Let’s dive in to the Friday night light. Doors open at 6 p.m., and this rager has an 18-plus stipulation and a $12 door price.
