If you blinked earlier this week, you might have missed Emeen Zarookian’s brief local cameo.
The celebrated songwriter and musician was back in town on double duty this past Sunday, playing T.T. The Bear’s Place in Cambridge with Spirit Kid and the Sterns as part of the Cambridge club’s Farewell Blowout. But before Zarookian jumped on a plane back to his new home of Los Angeles, he left us with a new pop nugget: a collaboration with Ramesh Srivastara, formerly of Voxtrot.
The duo’s first single is a delicate and introspective pop number called “Changing Colors,” and you can listen to it below via Soundcloud or in still-video form on Youtube. It’s also available for free download via rameshinspace.com.
The song was “inspired by an early morning walk through Los Feliz,” and serves as the first bit of collaboration between Zarookian and Srivastara. It was recorded at Zarookian’s home studio in Los Angeles with “Emeen at the controls, Ramesh on vocals, and instrumentation by both.”
It suggests some great things are to come from the pair of talents.
