Teen singer Alessia Cara vaults to stardom with Taylor Swift-approved ‘Bad Blood’ cover

In case you missed it, this was the week that Alessia Cara became a star.

The 18-year-old Def Jam Recordings singer from Toronto dropped by the BBC’s Radio 1 Piano Sessions to bust out an impressive cover of Taylor Swift’s current hit “Bad Blood,” and she even supplied the Kendrick Lamar verses.

Of course, nearly everyone who listens to pop music these days has sung parts of “Bad Blood” this summer — personally, we’re sweet on the hook that reminds us of “These Words” by Natasha Bedingfield — but few have won the highly-coveted approval and praise from Ms. Swift herself.

Oh, but now Cara has.

On Wednesday, Tay Sway tweeted: “You’re AMAZING, @alessiacara. Love this, @BBCR1 !”

Swift’s unstoppable girl gang may have q new recruit. Watch Cara’s performance below…
