If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em. And if you look like Ed Sheeran, then simply pretend to be him — in England it’ll get you laid.
The British pop star claims that ginger men in the United Kingdom are scoring with the ladies by pretending to be the 24-year-old pop star. Sheeran recently told a stateside radio station that some folks have taken to assuming the “Thinking Out Loud” singer to increase their chances of getting lucky.
Here’s word via the NME:
“There are a lot of ginger dudes in England who are using me,” [Sheeran says] before stating that he has no problem with people stealing his identity because it means that ginger men are “finally getting laid”.
“This is a good thing,” Sheeran continued. “There are loads of ginger people in England who are smashing it and having a lot of fun.”
He added: “We did get this random e-mail to my manager to this girl, while we were on tour in America. It was like ‘I think I slept with Ed last night at a festival, but I can’t remember if it was him or not. If it was him, tell him he’s an asshole and if it wasn’t, tell him I’m sorry for this e-mail’. This was like a couple of weeks ago.”
When not helping red heads get laid, Sheeran has also been busy picking the 2015 Song of the Summer. He tells Vulture that he thinks “Shut Up And Dance” by Walk The Moon, originally released back in October and heard pretty much everywhere since, wears this years floral wreath crown.
“I’m just hearing that everywhere,” he says recently. “It just makes everyone happy whenever they hear it. I really like that song.” Walk The Moon play Boston Calling this fall, and Sheeran plays Gillette Stadium that same weekend, on September 25.
