V:Music First Listen: Sameblod, ‘My Fortune’

Look, we know it’s mid-June, and everyone has already picked their annual Song Of The Summer. But consider Sameblod’s electric “My Fortune” as a late entry into the neon field. The Swedish synth-pop act’s previous j-a-m “Flourish” crashed FUSE TV’s “10 Best Dance Songs We Heard in February” but on this latest effort the slick production and inescapable hooks are raised to levels only found in a higher sonic stratosphere. Frederick Rundqvist and Mikael Mattisson, a pair of Swedes who first met in San Francisco, as it turns out, describe their blissful sound as “hopeful-electronic-mellow-pop with a lot of different influences,” but to us it sounds like success — and something that should dominate our summer playlists from here to Labor Day.
