Country in the City: Kacey Musgraves, Austin Webb, ‘Berklee Block’ added to Outside The Box fest

A week ago we announced the lineup for the 2015 Outside The Box festival, a free, six-day music and arts fest going down on Boston Common from July 14 to 19

Among the highlights of the more than 80 bands and artists were an appearance by ’90s pop-rock band Gin Blossoms and the announcement of Radio 92.9 FM’s annual EarthFest featuring Guster, New Politics, Atlas Genius, and American Idol’s Alex Preston. There was also the promise of a Friday night concert hosted by Country 102.5, and today we fill in those TBA blanks: On July 17, the country radio station welcomes Kacey Musgraves, Austin Webb, and Cam to the Outside The Box main stage.

The festival also announced a partnership with Berklee College of Music and the New England Music Awards (NEMA) to showcase a “Berklee Block,” which will highlight students and professors from the music school each day at 1 p.m. on the Park Street Stage, while NEMA will feature five performances from recently-nominated artists.

“The line-up for the festival continues to grow, exceeding my expectations,” says Boston-based philanthropist and arts enthusiast Ted Cutler in a presser. “This showcase of the arts is designed to inspire, creating life-long arts enthusiasts. I have no doubt that we are going to succeed.”
