Editor’s Note: After all that Kanye West drama from the Grammys a few months ago, it was easy to lose sight of just how great a performer Beck truly is.
With an Album of the Year under his belt (for 2014’s Morning Phase), a startling number of know-all-the-words hits at his disposal, and pop guitar wizard Jason Falkner by his side, Beck thew down the festival gauntlet last night at the opening tilt of Boston Calling’s Spring 2015 slate. Magnetic sets from Aussie psych-heads Tame Impala and open-book Brooklyn singer-songwriter Sharon Van Etten made for one hell of a night of respecting musical artistry at City Hall Plaza, and Vanyaland’s Eddy Leiva was on hand to capture the visuals.
Boston Calling continues today with My Morning Jacket, Tove Lo, Marina & the Diamonds, Krill, and others, and Vanyaland’s Center Of It All party holds court next door at Center Plaza with a media session from noon to 5 p.m. via VanyaRadio and the after party at 7 p.m. Get on the list here.
