City Hall Plaza is the epicenter of live music this weekend in Boston — and we have a bird’s eye view of the festivities. As Boston Calling Music Festival rages on in Government Center, Vanyaland and Nickerson PR is teaming up for the exclusive Center Of It All party next door inside 2 Center Plaza.
And everyone is invited.
As part of Vanyaland’s second-anniversary celebration, the party kicks off with a soft launch on Friday, May 22 with a live performance from Nemes. On Saturday, we turn the hollowed-out space into our very own media center, broadcasting live on VanyaRadio with artist interviews, live music, and others treats in the shadow of Boston Calling.
Then on Saturday night, we kick it into overdrive with the after party, featuring DJ Knife and live music from the Rare Occasions, Mini Dresses, Elephants, and the Sun Lions. All you have to do to get into the after party is RSVP through Do617.
“We’re very excited about this event for many reasons, none more so than we get to celebrate our second birthday with Boston,” says Vanyaland co-founder and CEO Paul Armstrong. “Overlooking the Boston Calling festival grounds, the stunning 3rd floor of Center Plaza will be our home for the weekend. We’ll have live music Friday and Saturday, as well as interviews and acoustic sets from the bands playing Boston Calling and other special guests. ”

But what makes this party unique is the location, as we take over a non-traditional DIY space to throw an event on our terms. Music fans who attend Boston Calling will no doubt recognize the structure’s crescent shape, which peaks out across Cambridge Street over the stages at the bi-annual music festival. The three engaging lobby spaces provide instant access, and Vanyaland’s session space is a short elevator ride upward.
Center Plaza is “a transit-oriented office and retail complex conveniently located in the heart of Downtown Boston between Boston City Hall and Pemberton Square,” says Kevin McMahon, Nickerson’s director of social media and digital content. “Center Plaza is currently undergoing a significant renovation program that will include an exciting array of new retail and dining options along the 900 feet of retail frontage, new exterior building signage, inviting lobbies, and rooftop upgrades.”
