Tomorrow is Record Store Day, and labels and bands are trying to outdo themselves to get attention on a very crowded and busy day. Blur are hiring an ice cream truck.
For those doing some crate digging in Los Angeles, be sure to keep an eye out for the Britpop comeback band’s special Magic Whip ice cream truck, named for their stellar new record out April 27 via Parlophone.
Cut down on your sundaes, mate, and get some exercise? Never.
There’s no word on whether or not Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James, or Dave Rowntree will be serving the frozen treats themselves, but fans will receive free ice cream by showing a store receipt. As an added bonus, those who use secret code “THE MAGIC WHIP” will also receive a collective “Lonesome Street” flexi disc.
The truck is expected to hit a string of L.A. record stores, including High Fidelity in Los Feliz, Amoeba Music in Hollywood, and Origami Vinyl in Echo Park. Check the The Magic Whip ice cream truck’s schedule below, and watch the Blur gang enjoy ice cream and other shenanigans in the classic “Parklife” video.
