In A Different Place: Ride announce additional US shows, expand spring tour

Turns out Ride’s first stateside performance in 20 years won’t be at Coachella. The reunited shoegaze legends today announced three additional shows to their upcoming tour, including two here in the United States: April 8 at the Roxy in Los Angeles and June 1 (on sale today at 3 p.m. PST) at Brooklyn’s Music Hall of Williamsburg (on sale April 3 at noon EST).

Ride will perform April 10 and 17 at Coachella Music & Arts Festival in Indio, California, and already had shows planned in New York (June 4 at Terminal 5) and Toronto (June 2 at DanForth Music Hall).

“We’re returning to The Roxy ahead of Coachella — well you didn’t really think the first time we would be walking on stage to play together in the US would be in front of thousands of people at Coachella, did you?,” the band wrote to fans this morning. “After the NY show at Terminal 5 sold out so quickly we decided we try and squeeze another show into our schedule, so we play the Music Hall of Williamsburg, Brooklyn on June 1.”

Ride added a third show for this Sunday, April 5 at Oxford’s O2 Academy (on sale now), which will serve as their first official gig — with all four members, and plugged in — since reuniting.

“Last time we played Oxford Academy in May ’90, it was the humble Co-Op Hall, so it seems only right for our first show in 20 years to be taking place in the room that has been so key to this band,” they wrote.

A few weeks ago, Mark Gardner and Andy Bell performed acoustically for charity.
