The new Blur record keeps sounding better and better.
The reunited British band this morning dropped its third single, “Lonesome Street”, and it’s another retainer of that classic mid-’90s Parklife/Modern Life Is Rubbish Sound. In fact, it sounds like an out take or a lost b-side from that era.
It’s also frontman Damon Albarn’s 47th birthday, for what it’s worth.
“Lonesome Street” is the final track to be released before Blur’s new album The Magic Whip hits the shelves on April 28 via Warner Bros. This past Friday, London fans of the band got a sneak peek at the new material during a secret, 300-person show at Mode in the West End, and that performance will be steamed by on Beats by Dre’s YouTube channel on Wednesday at 4 p.m. eastern time.
The Magic Whip is Blur’s first album in 16 years with the original quartet of Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree. “Lonesome Street” follows previous 2015 singles “Go Out” and “There Are Too Many Of Us”.
