One hundred and twenty seconds is all it takes to get weird when Zip-Tie Handcuffs are involved.
Today the Boston cyclone-rock trio unveiled a new video for “Weird Being,” the closing track off last fall’s Sundream LP, and the appropriate follow-up to bone-rattling single “Psychotic Dance”.
If “Psychotic Dance” was the soundtrack to shenanigans in the rock club, “Weird Being” is the scene where Zip-Tie Handcuffs are running away from the scene of the crimes. And true to its name, the video gets weird.
“Yeah, we got a little weird,” admits Zip-Tie guitarist/vocalist Matthew Ford. “Face-on-face projections — it was bizarre.”
Zip-Tie Handcuffs will rock out the Rock and Roll Rumble next month, and as we learned last night, they lay down their guitar riffage on Night 5 of the preliminary round: Friday, April 17 alongside Nate Leavitt Band, Murcielago, and the Dirty Looks.
Zip-Tie play the final slot, at 11:45 p.m., so they’re either cleaning up or throwing down, depending on your perspective. Either way, by two minutes in we’ll know what’s up.
