This just in: the Sparks of our generation, Franz Ferdinand, has teamed up with the Sparks of your dad’s generation to form a new supergroup called FFS.
Franz Ferdinand announced this morning they have joined forces with ’70s glam rock brigade Sparks, and released a teaser video called “The Domino Effect.”
The NME notes that the new group will play a series of live dates this summer, beginning at Glasgow Arts School on June 16 and London’s Troxy on June 29. “Gigs in Zagreb, Brussels and Paris will fall between the two as well as festival appearances at Benicàssim, Slovakia’s Pohoda and Lollapalooza in Berlin,” the NME writes. “Further European dates in July follow, with gigs in Lyon, Amsterdam and Cologne all scheduled. Tickets for the UK shows go on sale on Friday (March 13) at 9am.”
The most recent Franz record, Right Thoughts, Right Words, Right Action, dropped in 2013. Sparks have released more than 20 studio albums since 1971, including most recent effort The Seduction of Ingmar Bergman in 2009.
We’ll see how FFS plays out, but it seems to be a pretty good idea.
