Vanyaland Premiere: Hallelujah the Hills take stock in ‘The Girl With The Electronics Inside’

When it comes to online journalism, stock photography is usually the last step in crafting a post. Writing about penis size but don’t want to show any flesh? Grab a suggestive image of a cucumber. Highlighting trends in employment? Use Vince Vaughn and his smug face sitting at an office desk.

For Hallelujah the Hills, stock photography was utilized as inspiration for their latest track, “The Girl With The Electronics Inside”. It was conceived for David Mogolov’s “Out of Stock” series, where frontman Ryan H. Walsh “wrote it for a project where artists create things in reaction to randomly chosen stock photographs assigned to them.”

“The Girl With The Electronics Inside,” a catchy tune that wouldn’t sound out of place tucked somewhere nicely within the 1993 No Alternative compilation, will likely be featured on Jah Hills’ new album, the follow-up to last year’s acclaimed Have You Ever Done Something Evil?. But for now, it serves as the breezy jump-off point for the band’s upcoming tour, which kicks off Friday night at the Paramount Theatre in downtown Boston alongside Vanya faves the New Highway Hymnal.

The local gig is also part of ArtsEmerson’s weekend music series, which spills over into Saturday with Marissa Nadler and Damon & Naomi. Check the Hills’ full run of tour dates below, as well as “The Girl With The Electronics Inside,” and some show flyers for those who take stock in going out based on visuals.
