Rivers Cuomo went on a mild tweet-spree last night, and among appreciated wishes for everyone to have a good night and a gentle request for Weezer to perform at the 2016 Super Bowl was this startling revelation: “I lost my copy of the blue album.”
He’s referring to, of course, Weezer’s self-titled 1994 debut album, nicknamed The Blue Album, which featured classic tracks like “Buddy Holly” and “Undone — The Sweater Song.”
Cuomo did not go into detail of how he lost his “copy,” though it does sound like he only had one. So we’ll have to assume the Harvard University graduate will have to now find an actual record store and purchase the CD. If he ever returns to Massachusetts, we’re sure he can snag a few from Newbury Comics. Probably on vinyl, too.
In any event, let’s just hope he has a few stacks of Pinkerton lying around, in various formats, in case disaster strikes again.

Here’s Weezer performing “Surf Wax America” off “The Blue Album” live at the Sinclair in Cambridge late last year…
