That sound you just heard was our heads exploding. There’s nothing we haven’t already written about our beloved Charli XCX, and just when we think baby girl has done it all, she goes and covers Taylor Swift’s 2014 Song Of The Year, “Shake It Off.”
Holy moly.
The dirty work went down at the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge, where just last week Catfish & the Bottlemen mashed up pre-Grammys-rant Kanye with Kasabian and the Black Keys. Charli’s version of “Shake It Off” is a sped-up punk rock romper, dubbed “Ramones-esque” by host Fearne Cotton, with a bit of the DNA from recent Sucker single “Break The Rules” mixed in. Those chants of “Hey! Hey!” will be lodged in our heart of hearts forever.
Shout out to our Valentine over at Bullett for livening up our day.
Hey!
