Last week Passion Pit announced their new record Kindred, due for release this April. While the band has been teasing short song snippets to get us properly amped for their upcoming third album, the Boston-born electronic pop project has teamed with Madeon on the French producer’s glowing new single “Pay No Mind.”
The bouncy modern-disco track features vocals and production from Passion Pit’s Michael Angelakos, and is pulled from Madeon’s debut album Adventure, out March 31 via Columbia. “Pay No Mind” was premiered on today’s episode of Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio One show, and you can hear it via Madeon’s Soundcloud below. Other collaborators on Adventure include Bastille’s Dan Smith and Mark Foster of Foster the People.
“For me [Angelakos and Passion Pit] have this incredible ability, this very instinctive knack, to be able to write amazing pop melodies and pop hooks,” Lowe says after the song’s premiere, wondering aloud why Passion Pit aren’t one of the bigger bands in the world.
Adds Madeon: “There’s a lot of intelligence in his production.”
