Catch the Breeze: Creation Records confirms Slowdive is recording a new album

It’s been just about a year since Slowdive announced their return and reunion, and the British rock band spent much of 2014 playing live shows, getting reacquainted with themselves and their instruments, and enjoying the time back after a two-decade absence. Now, it looks like the new year will eventually bring a new album from the shoegaze legends, in what would be their first batch of new material since 1995’s Pygmalion.

Earlier today, Creation Records seemed to confirm the rumors, fueled by over the past few months in press interviews and the band’s on-stage banter.

In a post titled, aptly, Slowdive recording new album, the label writes:

“With their last gig of 2014 only a few weeks ago, it seems there’s no hanging around for Slowdive. The lovely Rachel has been teasing her followers on Twitter and Instagram regarding the bands current activities recording new music. You can see the posts below.

The band have made no secret of the fact they wish to record a new album, you can read about this in our recent Q&A session with the band. A new Slowdive album would follow the new Swervedriver album out in March whilst Mark Gardener stated in a recent interview that new material from Ride is a “definite”.

Though no timetable has been issued, this is still pretty exciting news. Here are the Rachel Goswell posts Creation was referencing…
