A few months after a teaser clip proved the film was actually going to happen, the new trailer for the much-awaited sequel to a ’90s cult classic SLC Punk has finally arrived. SLC Punk 2: Punk’s Dead was unleashed to the masses right before Christmas, giving us a good reason to look forward to 2015.
An interesting spin from the original, the second installment doesn’t feature the protagonist “Stevo” Levy played by Matthew Lillard, and Jason Segel’s character Mike has a small cameo. The plot centers around a young dude named Ross, Heroin Bob’s surviving son, who goes out on a trip with a couple of friends to pretty much find himself. It looks like a funny coming-of-age film that has retained the charm of the original ’98 flick. Plus there’s Rancid’s “Timebomb” on the soundtrack, so we’re off to a good start.
There’s no set release date, so the trailer will have to do for now. It’s NSFW, but that’s ok, it’s Sunday, and everyone seems to be on vacation this week, anyway.
