Yesterday we highlighted André Obin as part of our 10 preferred electronic pop songs to come out of Boston list, championing the euphoric “Watermark” as one of the best songs of 2014. Right around the time the digital ink dried on our Year in ReView piece, the Boston electronic music producer dropped a hypnotic new video for a different cut off this past April’s Ways of Escape LP [Sky Council Recordings], the more sinister and beat-driven track “Loaded Soul.”
The video was shot in Barcelona, and takes Obin’s sound to a fitting location: an underground dance party that looks like it was shot at 5 a.m. At least that’s what the personal flashbacks are taking us back to.
“Dark, sexy, and energetic,” says director Tom Hayton, a British-born photographer and video producer based in Europe. “This has been one of the most fun projects I’ve directed.”
