A few weeks ago word leaked that Cambridge’s Middlesex Lounge would be condensing its weekly slate to a Thursday-to-Sunday schedule. That meant no more shows and parties early in the week, which essentially meant no more pRIMORDIAL sOUNDS, the monthly gathering that pulled together musicians, artists, and creative-types from all parts of the New England underground.
Tonight is pRIMORDIAL sOUNDS’ last go-round at the Central Square venue and nightclub, and it also happens to be its third anniversary party. Co-organizer Noah Bond told Allston Pudding that pRIMORDIAL will continue as a record label and host of one-off events in the New Year, but before they go thinking anything about all that, the focus is on one big blowout party this evening. On tap: 10 bands all coming together and playing everything from electro-pop to psych-rock over eight celebratory hours.
And the night, tonight, will live on.
“We’ll also be recording the entire show,” Bond tells Vanyaland last week. “Tracks from the night will be featured on a live compilation record with other live recordings of bands who have played at pRIMORDIAL sOUNDS for the past 3 years! Proceeds from the night will go toward putting out the comp on vinyl sometime in mid 2015!”
Right on.
Check out all 10 of the performing bands, and be sure to get there early — it’s FREE before 5 p.m., then admission is based on a sliding scale between $5 and $10 after 8 p.m.
