Yesterday afternoon J Masics appeared to have a very bizarre gig lined up: performing live inside an airport. But a deeper look into the appearance seems to make perfect sense.
The Dinosaur Jr singer/guitarist performed live at the Sub Pop store at Seattle-Tacoma Airport, because of course the Seattle airport has a Sub Pop record shop. Massachusetts native Masics played to a decent crowd yesterday, as seen through the Vine below, playing songs off his recent solo record, Tied To A Star.
The Sub Pop airport shop opened in May, filling a vacated Borders book store and sitting across from a Starbucks at Sea-Tac’s Concourse C. It sells records, posters, and other Sub Pop memorabilia.
Hopefully a Newbury Comics will soon one day grace the hallowed halls of Logan International Airport here in Boston…
Also, this tweet wins some sort of award:
J Mascis is playing at the @subpop SeaTac store. Tarmac workers who are used to jet engines are rumored to be complaining about the volume.
