There’s been a nice long build-up to Charli XCX’s upcoming sophomore record Sucker, which finally drops December 16 here in the States. First we got our “Boom Clap” on throughout the summer, then we soundtracked fall with “London Queen” and “Break The Rules.”
Now along comes another tasty pop nugget from Sucker, the guitar-riffy “Gold Coins,” which Charli wrote with Icona Pop and Robyn collaborator Patrik Berger.
It may not have the same arena-rock ambitions of her previous work, but it’s a fine chilled-out album track that sounds like a nice addition to your cherished cassette mixtape back in high school. And it’s further solidifying Sucker as some sort of modern-day Greatest Hits record, arriving just in time for the holidaze.
