“For the first time I’m in a place where I’m truly in control of my career both creatively and logistically, which is incredibly liberating and exciting,” says British electro-pop singer Little Boots. “I wrote a piece for The Times last year about my experiences of pop-life and then setting up my own label, and the response was overwhelming. It’s such an inspiring time for empowered young women.”
They say never start an article with a quote, but fuck it — that one up there says it all about 30-year-old Victoria Christina Hesketh. It feels like Little Boots has been around forever, but debut record Hands, which featured breakthrough jams “New In Town” and “Remedy,” only dropped five years ago.
Now to get us hungry for her upcoming third album, due in 2015, Little Boots today dropped delectable new track “Taste It,” which has a bit of a tribal, Knife-like thing going on. It’s the first cut off the Business Pleasure EP, out December 1, and you can get reacquainted with the post-hyper sleeper via Soundcloud.
For those in the New York area, catch Little Boots performing this Saturday at the Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn.
