Over the summer local filmmaker Jason Steeves unexpectedly posted his celebrated WFNX documentary, We Want The Airwaves, to Vimeo, commemorating the two-year anniversary of the alternative rock radio station leaving the FM dial.
At the time, Steeves cited family issues and legal clearances as the reasons for making the doc free to view, but the anniversary of the station’s closing was another factor.
Since then, We Want The Airwaves has been pulled offline, but it resurfaces again this weekend with a another full screening at the Somerville Theatre’s Filmshift movie festival, where it premiered last year. We Want The Airwaves screens in full on Saturday, October 25 at 5 p.m.
Steeves will be on hand and giving away some cool WFNX merch, as well.
I'll give away some great WFNX memorabilia at Saturday's WE WANT THE AIRWAVES screening, including one of the highly coveted WFNX jackets.
