Fences may be a Seattle band, but there’s plenty of Boston blood flowing through its musical veins. Northwest native Chris Mansfield formed the project while attending Berklee College of Music, and he’s supported by multi-instrumentalists Lindsey Starr and Ben Greenspan, Massachusetts natives who have performed in countless Boston bands, including Protokoll, the Daily Pravda, and the Lindsey Starr Band.
So last night there was a bit of local pride flowing through televisions across the city as Fences made their late-night television debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, performing their hit “Arrows” with Macklemore. Oh, and Questlove, who’ll be in town tomorrow night with the Roots for Boston Calling, sat in on drums, because NBD.
We hear people even sang and cheered along at the Model Cafe in Allston as the segment aired around 12:20 a.m. local time. If case you missed it, check it out below, as well as pics from Starr’s Instagram.
Fences’ new LP Lesser Oceans is out January 13 via Elektra Records.
