Last year, David Bowie announced his 24th studio album, The Next Day, with little warning. This year, we’re perhaps getting a hint at new material to come, as the performer teased “more music soon” at a recent charity event.
Bowie issued a statement, later confirmed to be legit by the NME, to be read at a July 12 fundraiser party in London. The night celebrated 50 years of Bowie’s music while raising money for the Terrance Higgins Trust. Here’s the statement in full:
This city is even better than the one you were in last year, so remember to dance, dance, dance. And then sit down for a minute, knit something, then get up and run all over the place. Do it. Love on ya. More music soon. David
Sure, it’s a bit vague, but it’s something.
Meanwhile, if you’re itching for a Bowie fix a bit sooner than “soon,” dance night Videodrome Discotheque is throwing another all-Bowie bash at Oberon in Cambridge this Friday night, July 18.
