Ever since their triumphant kinda-sorta homecoming gig at Boston Calling last September, Lucius have been on the rise. Now the Brooklyn indie-pop band, fronted by Berklee alumnae Holly Laessig and Jess Wolfe, have their attention turned to global domination with their new cover of Tears For Fears’ ’80s classic, “Everybody Wants To Rule The World.”
The track, which you can listen to below, is the b-side off Lucius’ new special edition vinyl release of “Genevieve,” out today via Mom + Pop/Dine Alone Records. The 7-inch is available to purchase through the band’s online store.
Lucius’ version of “Everybody Wants To Rule The World” is a delicate and deliberate harmony-driven cover, which, outside of the lyrics and a few familiar notes, sounds like a different song entirely.
Fire it up below, and check out Lucius’ massive run of tour dates after the Soundcloud jump, which includes shows with Berklee-born band Lake Street Dive (who play Boston Calling this September) and pop singer Sara Bareilles.
