We’re hearing reports tonight of Boston EMS and multiple ambulances headed to TD Garden for the Avicii show. Word of “level 2 mass casualty” incident has been declared, and we’re told that area hospitals have been alerted to expect heavy activity in the next hour. Some hospitals have already received patients.
Channel 7 News reports more than 50 people have been hospitalized, and emergency units set up base at the Garden when “the ambulances couldn’t keep up with the people coming out.”
The Globe has the number of hospitalizations at 38 and is reporting, as of 11 p.m. EST, that there are no fatalities.
Multiple ambulances were called to the TD Garden Wednesday night. A Boston EMS spokeswoman said at about 10 p.m. that city ambulances transported at least two people to a hospital and that there was the potential for more patients to be transported.
The spokeswoman would not comment on the nature of their injuries or how many people were transported by private ambulances.
A level 2 mass casualty incident was declared at the Garden. Mass casualty incidents are generally declared to alert area hospitals to expect a certain number of incoming patients.
We’ll post more info as we get it…
