Stars & Stripes 2014 brings MS MR, Charli XCX, the Knocks, X Ambassadors to Martha’s Vineyard

Now that we’re a few days into June, the next holiday that’s got our attention — sorry dads — is Fourth of July, and this year the fireworks should be even louder because Independence Day falls on a Friday.

That’s right — three-day motherfucking weekend.

So needless to say we were already excited for that weekend’s prospects. And then we saw the lineup for the fourth annual Stars & Stripes fundraiser for the Martha’s Vineyard YMCA, which goes down on Saturday, July 5: MS MR (starring Stars & Stripes co-founder Lizzy Plapinger, also of presenter Neon Gold Records), our homegirl Charli XCX, the Knocks, and X Ambassadors.

That sound you heard was our heads exploding.

It all goes down at Flatbread Company in Edgartown, and tickets are $30 in advance and $35 day-of-show.

Since 2011, Stars & Stripes has raised $130,000 for its neighborhood YMCA, and last year’s event featured Walk The Moon, St. Lucia, Haerts, and DCLA. So this is quite the annual party.

“To say thank you, we’re back with our biggest, baddest lineup yet for Stars + Stripes IV, stacked from the top down with some of our favorite artists (and people) in the game,” wrote Neon Gold this morning. “This year’s lineup is a TRIPLE HEADLINE of epic proportions, featuring an all-star trio of Charli XCX – currently sitting pretty atop the Hot 100 on the number one song in the country – our very own MS MR, and The Knocks closing things out late night. Not to mention X Ambassadors getting the party started early, and maybe, just maybe finding their way onto a few tracks later in the night.”

And it’s all for a good cause.

“Once again, 100% of proceeds go to supporting the Martha’s Vineyard YMCA and the incredible performing arts program they provide for the Island’s youth, and we hope you’ll join us to celebrate this phenomenal cause,” Neon Gold added. “It’s shaping up to be a night we’ll never forget, so cancel whatever plans you’ve got on tap and come get star-spangled with the Neon Gold dream team on Martha’s Vineyard.”
