The official start to summer is only a few weeks away, so that means the annual Starlabfest isn’t far behind. Now in its fifth year, Starlabfest continues its tradition of not feeling like anything else in Boston; bands are playing, people are grilling, it’s hot as fuck, and everyone’s outside and having a good time. It feels like those parties you attend while visiting other cities and think “I wish they did shit like this in Boston.”
Turns out they do. In Somerville.
As in the past, this year’s all-day event goes down at the Starlab Recordings lot at 32 Prospect St. The Saturday, July 19 all-day get-together features 12 homegrown bands — preview each one below — ranging from surf-rock (Beware The Dangers of a Ghost Scorpion) to punk (Animal Mother, Nice Guys) to metal/hardcore (Lunglust) to hip-hop (Boogie Boy Metal Mouth) to alt-rock (the recently-added The Sun Lions), as well as a flea market and cookout. There’s also a film, art, and comedy show nearby at 453 Somerville Ave., and one admission price of $10 gets you into both spots.
There’s a lot going on.
Catch an advance listen to the bands below, in the order they are listed on the Starlabfest Facebook event page; actual lineup and set time will be announced in the coming weeks…
