Back in February, Boston city officials announced they were shutting down the Government Center MBTA station for two years as the busy T stop undergoes renovation. Organizers from the Boston Calling said the construction wouldn’t affect their City Hall Plaza music festival, but we assumed some slight modification to the two-stage layout would be in order.
Now that we’re two days away from Boston Calling kicking off Memorial Day weekend with its first-ever Friday slate, featuring Cass McCombs, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeroes, and Jack Johnson, we’re getting a first look at this year’s layout.
This morning, we got a first look at the Red and Blue stages, as Boston Calling posted an aerial shot of the layout to its Facebook page. Last year the stages were facing each other — this weekend, it looks like they’re closer together to avoid the construction zone.
