As New England embraces springtime, one of the last things we need to check off the to-do list is seeing who’s playing the KAHBANG Music, Art & Film Festival in Maine. This year’s four-day event — now branded in ALL CAPS so you can hear it better — goes down August 7 to 10 in Bangor and tickets are currently on sale, but no artists have been announced so far.
Boston Calling has gotten us worked up into the festival spirit, so we scanned the KAHBANG social media pages to look for clues (full disclosure: a birdie told us some lineup hints would appear there just before Memorial Day). Nothing on Facebook, nothing on Twitter, and nothing on Instagram… unless we want to make a stink about the fest’s last three posts, which spell out the letters D-M-X.
Check it out below. Seems intentional, no?
Maybe ol’ X will bring George Zimmerman up to the Pine Tree State and their much-maligned (and since cancelled) attempted boxing match could fall under the “art” category.
Either way, stay tuned for a proper announcement. Last year’s event was headlined by St. Lucia, Dr. Dog, and Earl Sweatshirt, and also featured Mean Creek, Lucius, Lights, Gentlemen Hall, the Box Tiger, X-Ambassadors, Herra Terra, and others.
