Because it’s Mother’s Day, here are our favorite covers of Danzig’s ode to moms everywhere, ‘Mother’

[dropcap]I[/dropcap]t’s a bit of a tradition for us around these parts to post the video for Danzig’s “Mother” on Mother’s Day, but this year, it feels so 2011. To shake things up a bit, we looked for our favorite covers of the ’80s rock classic — and favorite of moms everywhere that second Sunday of May.

To kick it off within the Boston family, up top is steamcrunk misfits Walter Sickert & the Army of Broken Toys performing “Mother” last fall in Somerville. It went down at Cuisine en Locale at Anthony’s on Highland Avenue as part of November’s Muertos III: A Day of the Dead Fiesta of Local Food and Fantasmic Music.

In the spirit of the cover, here are a few other versions of “Mother” that we’ll be bumping all day with our moms.
