Facepalm of Spades: Warrant’s Jani Lane mistaken for a guy in Motorhead at ceremony

Jani Lane can’t catch a break. The former Warrant singer passed away in 2011, but was honored earlier this week at Revolver Magazine’s Golden Gods Awards in Los Angeles, part of a Zakk Wylde performance of “In This River” during a death montage. It was a nice tribute for those in rock and metal who had died over the past ten years, like Dimebag Darrell of Pantera, Kevin DuBrow of Quiet Riot, Peter Steele of Type O Negative, Ronnie James Dio… and Jani Lane of… Motorhead?!?

Metal Sucks points out that the clip also saluted former Motörhead guitarist Würzel, so clearly there was just a mix-up. But there’s a pretty wide gap between Motorhead and Warrant. It’s not like they thought Taime Downe sang for Bang Tango or some shit like that.

You can see it in the video above at the 2:56 mark.

But poor Jani Lane. We can just hear him up in Heaven — it’s not too far away — bitching “I was the Cherry Pie guy, now I’m the Motorhead guy.”

Hey, at least it’s an upgrade…
