Yesterday we went on and on and on about how all signs were pointing to a Mineral reunion. Well, less than 24 hours (and a Twitter and Instagram and homepage) later, we have our answer: the Texas-based ’90s band will play their first shows in 17 years, and the first releases of a tour include a September 10 show at Brighton Music Hall in Allston.
To sweeten the deal, Chicago’s Into It. Over It are coming along for the ride.
Mineral’s Chris Simpson released a statement today about the band’s reformation:
Reconnecting with each other and this material for the first time in 17 years has been a real joy and pleasure. The shows will be the icing on the cake. We are grateful for the opportunity and looking forward to getting to play for all the people who have loved us all along as well as the many who have discovered us posthumously along the way.
It’s unlikely Mineral reunited for a mere seven shows — and none in their home Texas bases of Austin and Houston — so expect more dates to be announced shortly.
