Saturday was Record Store Day, a unified celebration of independent music shops all around the globe. But for Mystery Train Records in Amherst, Massachusetts, the weekend began on a sour note after its shop at North Pleasant Street was reportedly burglarized sometime Friday night.
The crook (or crooks) made away with 50 used compact discs, a laptop and about $20 — but no vinyl.
According to Mass Live, which has the report today:
AMHERST – Police are looking for a thief who broke into Mystery Train Records this weekend and stole 50 used CDS, a laptop computer and $20 in change.
Police said that the robber gained access by removing an air conditioning unit from a window of the North Pleasant Street shop.
An employee reporting to work Saturday morning discovered the break-in and notified police who are investigating.
Mystery Train, a long-time downtown staple, sells and used CDS and records.
Mystery Train has a partner location in Gloucester.
