Several hours before performing at TD Garden last night in Boston, Miley Cyrus warned that she might not be herself during the show. The singer’s beloved Alaskan Klee Kai dog, Floyd, unexpectedly passed away, leaving Cyrus an emotional wreck.
But not only did the show go on, but a live soundcheck party went off as planned as well. The pre-show event at the TD Garden was a sort-of make-up date for fans; those with a ticket to the Kiss 108 Jingle Ball this past December, where Cyrus was a controversial no-show because of weather, could attend free of charge.
Cyrus did a handful of songs at the soundcheck party, including a cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide,” which she dedicated to Floyd.
“It’s gonna be hard for me on this next song,” Cyrus told the crowd. “I’m not sounding myself, I don’t feel myself. But I just wanna do one song I’m sure you guys already know, but the reason that I’m so upset is my dog, I shouldn’t say he was my favorite but he was my favorite, he passed away. I just wanna do a song for him. We used to always listen to Fleetwood Mac together, it’s his favorite song…so I wanna do this song for Floyd. This song is ‘Landslide.'”
I'm sorry in advance if I am not myself tomorrow Boston. I will try my best to be my best
