There are many different musical layers to Boston alt-rock quartet Animal Talk. From ’70s AM grooves to danceable indie-pop to whatever sensual ’90s tones it takes to pull off a crowd-pleasing cover of Genuwine’s “Pony,” the band has proven adept at juggling myriad aural elements and letting them fall perfectly into a three-and-a-half-minute pop song.
That’s the case in mirror-spiked new single “Tie Me Up,” out today and premiered Friday on VanyaRadio — the track is a springtime bi-coastal cocktail of sun-rising awesome, and the tasty first sip from new EP KID, expected later this year.
It’s a nice little Monday Funday groove, and you can hear and download it below via the Animal Talk Bandcamp. “Tie Me Up” was mixed by Ryan Rabin of GROUPLOVE and recorded at Ducky Carlisle’s Ice Station Zebra Studio.
Also, the album artwork to KID features drummer Greg Faucher as a youth, decked out in a Mickey Mouse sweatshirt. That’s a good look, right there.
