Tastes like Cool Britannia: Blur offer up limited-edition tea set

A wise man once sang: I put my trousers on, have a cup of tea, and I think about leaving the house…

If, in recent years, you’ve found yourself stumped shopping for the Britpop fan on your list this Christmas, you’re in luck this holiday season: Suede have released a vinyl box set of their studio albums; Gene’s albums are being reissued in January (stuff an IOU receipt in his or her stocking); and now, Blur have upped the merchandise game by releasing their very own Britannia Tea Set.

We can imagine Noel Gallagher is shaking his head as we write this.

The fine bone china tea set is emblazoned with Blur’s Britannia logo and manufactured in the Potteries region, using a logo first seen on the 1991 “She’s So High” single artwork and then re-booted for the band’s Hyde Park Olympics gig. The set includes one four-cup tea pot, two tea cups, two saucers, and is presented in an attractive gift box. The Blur tea set is a limited edition of 300 and available for $107 USD/ £69 GBP.

Perhaps Damon Albarn is taking inspiration from a former love? As Elastica once told us, “have a cup of tea, put a record on…”
