Yesterday we posted a clip of Lucius and Kingsley Flood teaming up in New York for a rendition of John Lennon’s 1971 holiday classic “Happy Xmas (War Is Over).” It’s a pretty catchy tune, and still reflective of the modern times more than four decades after its release.
Now, British pop star Jake Bugg has gotten under the covers as well, performing the song live for a Team Coco web exclusive. Conan O’Brien’s a big fan of Mr. Bugg, apparently, as he’s been a frequent guest of the late night talk show host with two studio performances this year alone. We’re pretty sure this clip was recorded back in October, but since Christmas is 14 days away and the world is still a steaming pile of shit it makes sense to release it now.
Not to be outdone, the Lennon cover is also familiar territory for the Bugg — he performed it last year for BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge Sessions.
