U2 have released a new song through a promotional trailer for the upcoming Nelson Mandela biopic, Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom. According to the NME, “Ordinary World” was written specifically for the film, based on Mandela’s 1994 autobiography Long Walk To Freedom, and marks the band’s first new music in three years.
Word is a new U2 album will be finished by the end of next month, meaning the follow-up to 2009’s No Line On The Horizon should hit sometime in early 2014.
Bassist Adam Clayton told the NME: “I think it’s a bit of a return to U2 of old, but with the maturity, if you like, of the U2 of the last 10 years. It’s a combination of those two things and it’s a really interesting hybrid.”
