You’d normally expect documentary on the career of Descendants to be short and to the point, but that wouldn’t be doing the 30-year career of the California punk titans any sort of justice. Filmage tells the story of Descendents and All, which paved the way for pop-punk bands like Green Day and Blink 182 to puncture the mainstream a decade later, with interviews with the chief players, Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters), Mike Watt (Minutemen), Brett Gurewitz (Bad Religion) and others.
And now it comes to the Somerville Theatre in Davis Square for a special screening on November 13. Co-presented by Under The Gun Review, PropertyOfZack, and Antique Records, the Boston premiere will also include two short films in place of traditional previews.
The two short films accompanying ‘Filmage’ will also be celebrating their New England premieres. This includes the quasi-documentary on up and coming pop act Astro Safari USA, as well as the first-ever theatrical screening of PropertyOfZack.com’s short doc ‘The Whippies: A Gang Story,’ which features appearances from Man Overboard, New Found Glory, and more.
